This search engine will find IPA sounds on the web that are available for downloading or immediate playback. You can search by clicking on a symbol on the IPA chart, or by selecting a set of phonological features, which will bring up a list of the corresponding IPA symbols that can then be used in the search.

Once a search has been made you can:
(1) Search for languages that have both this sound AND some other sound.
(2) Search for languages that have this sound OR some other sound.
(3) Search for languages that have this sound but NOT some other sound.
(4) Constrain the search by adding a diacritic or other modification to the sound.
The search currently lists the languages that contain the requested sound in the IPA Illustrations of Languages files, the UCLA Phonetic Data collection, and (eventually) in the UCLA Phonetics Archive.
